New Fern Walk in Gill

Come join us at a wonderful new site we discovered in Gill. We will see over 20 ferns in a hike around this property, including wonderful areas of Maidenhair, Broad Beech and Walking Ferns. This is not a beginners walk. Although everyone is welcome, we will be focusing more on seeing and identifying the less common ferns. This photo is of a large Broad Beech Fern (Phegopteris hexagonoptera).

Be prepared for some hiking up slopes, poison ivy and insects. Parking is limited at the site, so we will meet at the parking lot at Barton Cove to share rides if possible and to travel together to the site. Directions: Take turn off Rt 2 towards the Barton Cove campground, across from auto sales at 113 French King Hwy. Meet in day use parking lot, near picnic area & showers.
