Signs of Spring 3

Ostrich ferns

Happy first day of Spring!

Randy & I went out to look for some new signs of Spring today. One of the nice things we found were new "crowns" on many of the Ostrich ferns (Matteuccia struthiopteris) growing in a sunny wet spot in the Mt Toby waterfall area. Most were smaller than this, but they are starting to grow their new fiddleheads.

TIme to get out and start looking for new Spring growth! The crowns are also visible (removing some old tree leaves) on the Marginal and Evergreen Wood Ferns, Christmas Ferns, and Fragile Ferns. Happy hunting!
