Pioneer Valley Fern Society

The Fern Walk is on for today.

Mt Toby Waterfall, Leverett MA 1-3pm

We are going to take a chance and hold the fern walk at Mt Toby Waterfall in Leverett today from 1-3 PM. The forecasts suggest the possibility of a shower or light rain, or maybe we will be lucky and miss it altogether.

Randy walked through the area yesterday and reports there are lots of nice ferns, fiddleheads and Spring wildflowers. The photo is one Randy took yesterday of the Narrow Beech ferns at the site.

Be prepared for wet ground and maybe a light rain. We will be crossing the shallow stream to see plants on the other side, but those who don't want to can stay on one side and we will be coming back across.

We will try to take off shortly after one to avoid the likely showers at 3. If you are a little late, follow the trail heading north and west out of the parking lot, and you should hear us!

Directions: Meet at the small parking area next to the former Ashram on west side of Rt.63 in Leverett at Box # 438, 6 miles north of the traffic light in North Amherst center, and 1/10 mile south of the intersection of Montague Rd. to Leverett center. There is a suggested parking fee of $2. Limited parking, so car pool if you can.
