Narrow-leaved Glade Fern

Narrow-leaved Glade Fern or Narrow-leaved Spleenwort (Homalosorus pycnocarpus) is a large, beautiful and uncommon fern. It has been previously included with Lady Ferns and Spleenworts, but is now the only species in the genus Homalosorus. The sori are beautiful, long, linear and in a herringbone pattern. Narrow-leaved Glade Ferns grow in open to partially shaded wetlands with generally neutral soils. We have a lovely patch to visit on our hike at Mt Toby on Sunday August 30th.
